Filorga Hydra Hyal – Chic Response

Filorga Hydra Hyal Examination
Filorga has been one of the brands that I have particularly enjoyed discovering, and this Hydra Hyal is one of those products. I already loved the old formula, but the brand improved this formula last summer, and in my opinion, it’s much better now.

New vs. old formula

Visually, the color of the bottle has changed: the old formula had a frosted glass bottle, transparent white, while the new one has a kind of gradient in blue. The texture is another factor that shows a noticeable difference: this new texture is more fluid and more comfortable to use, especially for combination to oily skin types that do not appreciate the film that the old one could leave behind.

The texture remains like that of a gelled liquid (i.e. not watery but thick), and it is easily dosed thanks to the built-in dropper in the packaging – just push the top like a plunger to dispense the product.

According to the brand, in this new formula, there are 5 types of hyaluronic acid, unlike the previous one with 4 types, reinforcing the Hyal Diffusing Factors complex. Thus, it promises to intensely hydrate, smooth, and plump the skin.

In addition to the improved serum, the brand has added a hydrating plumping cream to the Hydra Hyal range.

Key ingredients and outcomes

Filorga is based on and inspired by aesthetic medicine where one of the main active ingredients used is hyaluronic acid. As mentioned earlier, the brand states that this formula consists of 5 types of hyaluronic acid: low, medium, and high molecular weight, cross-linked, and encapsulated high molecular weight.

According to the brand, each type of HA plays a fundamental role:

  • High molecular weight HA promises to act on visible wrinkles, reducing them;
  • Medium molecular weight HA for moisturizing action;
  • Low molecular weight HA to promote hydration and collagen production;

In addition to the hyaluronic acid complex, another ingredient is the extract of Sophora japonica, a flower used in traditional Chinese medicine, rich in antioxidant polyphenols.

My viewpoint

The gel-like texture won me over from the very first use. It is a very sensory product; however, in the old formula, it seemed more noticeable the film it left on the skin. This was something I did not appreciate and has been improved in this new version. I like how it feels on the skin in this version, but it is not sufficient on its own to keep the skin comfortable – at least for me.

I believe that oily skins in need of hydration without feeling heavy will appreciate this texture. I did not notice an immediate effect on reducing wrinkles, but I do notice that the skin ends up looking plumper over time.

Undoubtedly another Filorga product that has made me a fan, this being the second package (the first one with the old formula), and maybe I will buy it again.
